Fortune School of Education, in collaboration with its consortium schools and districts, credentials strong teacher leaders through a district intern program which results in a Preliminary California Teaching Credential. The schools/districts employ teacher candidates, provide them a salary and benefits, and place them on the District Intern Credential. The district interns then participate in ONE or TWO-year credential programs.
ONE YEAR PROGRAMS:
– Early Completion Option (select Single Subjects and qualified Multiple Subject ONLY)
TWO YEAR PROGRAMS:
– Single Subject
– Multiple Subject
– Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate)
During this time, district interns are full-time teachers of record, participating in courses that include effective teaching strategies and techniques based upon current research on cognitive learning and best teaching practices, and field experiences which provide a breadth of professional development experiences. Course instruction begins with 160 hours of Pre-Service coursework which is REQUIRED before district interns are permitted to begin on the District Intern Credential.
District interns are grouped in cohorts and are supported in their training by faculty (which includes instructors and field field supervisiors), on-site mentors, and site administrators.
After the successful completion of all program requirements, program completers are then recommended for the Preliminary California Teaching Credential by Fortune School of Education and the employing district’s board of education.
