To join and then we'll go ahead and get started Jason is your last name t e r w o e s t making sure that I capture everybody who's here I already got Ron and Tasha thank you guys for being here thank you one thing I will say why you guys are way I'm waiting I'm really excited to see your faces are so many reason but if anything because you are interested in becoming teachers and I think it is such a important journey and is actually in my personal opinion a civic duty to like our nation to be Educators so I am very excited about you all being and I'm looking forward to talking with you with you all hi Sally you guys just a couple of things I'm going to actually see if I can change my name so that we know who I am just finished meaning iic getting getting on you all on your welcome to come on camera if is not something you're able to do I would love to see you hear your lovely faces if you are not able to come on camera that's fine too if you have any questions or things that you like to have answered I do have a parking lot segment of the presentation at Sibley happens at the end where answer question but I'm also the flexible person and a lot of the time that on mine basking in the moment questions but I will say a couple of things one and I'm probably going to tell you everything that you might want to know if you allow me to move forward I but I'm like again I'm happy to answer and two if you have questions that are very specific to you and is not just like a general question that you think that other people might benefit from by hearing I definitely encourage you to hang on to it and talk to me about that question outside of this outside of the presentation but he have a question about like testing options for subject-matter competency you for the basic skills over the information session with you all and I'm Diggin on you know who Fortune school is and what we have to offer one of the things that I love to hear about is how people found out about us and I see through the responses that a lot of you were referred by District or people who come here so that's exciting to know that our relationships are working in Gray again if you have any questions raise your hand and I will be sure to take it you alright let's go ahead it started so this is our agenda tonight we're going to talk about why choose Fortune School of Education the programs that we offer how you go about applying to the program eligibility as it pertains to eligibility for anybody who is interested in early completion option and then what that eligibility might look like for a person who is moving from the pre-service into the district and turn Graham has a actual District intern candidate will also discuss tuition and we'll get you an a I married I saw your cherry saying that you've already earned your your education specialist credentialed through 14 School you can come on so I can hear you you can put in the chat okay so while I'm waiting for that our mission and vision you may or may not know that virgin schools established in 1989 so we've been around for a long time doing this work and I am proud to say that the people who come through our teacher preparation program they have longevity so there you know they're staying in their careers for for a number of years and they're even there even moving up the chain of command going for a ministrator Seuss's credentials and also you know becoming principles and leaders and their school oh okay so you are actually already are you thinking about becoming a minister to Services credential is that a yes okay alright this is definitely for our people who are thinking about earning their teaching credential and is not so much about the administrative Services credential then no worries let me go ahead and get your I have your name and I will have our high red team reach out to you about the administrative Services credential so you can go ahead and pop off of here and then I'll be able to way I have some questions can I go ahead and ask hold your questions for me I'm going to go right after I go over this I'm going to give us all the opportunity to kind of check in with each other and we can go through everybody thank you so much so our mission is to provide eligible individuals and affordable pathway to become a teacher in California our program is low cost in comparison in comparison to many of our competitors and is actually a practical roadmap for somebody to earn their credential our vision is to prepare teachers for service and postal who are competent that are sensitive and they are eager and ready to develop students to their full potential I want to give everybody a moment to share if you would like to a little bit about yourself and why you know how you found out about Fortune school and maybe you know why you think now is the time for you to become a teacher and I'm going to yeah if you are whoever like to share feel free to to raise your hand and and do that yeah my name is mocha now I'm working in San Ramon Valley Unified School District as a paraeducator for Last 5 Years or so I thought. My credential and I do math for middle schoolers so that's why I'm here one of my colleagues actually referred your school so he finished it in your school so I thought of joining Ciara and I would like to know Dental thank you thank you for sharing anyone else like to share hi I'm so I graduated from Davis and the middle of covid in 2020 and I studied science I studied biology specifically and I I'm currently teaching middle school science at a public school under an emergency permit in the Sacramento area so I'm trying to figure out kind of the best way to earn my credential and as quick as possible in a way that I can do it while still teaching so hopefully I can keep my position the start of next year okay definitely this is easy very practical Pathway to teaching while earning your credential and actually being on record as the teacher and not classroom so you're interested you're in MySpace I'm to learn as you go and Mana I am just very happy because there's so many people who are pure Educators and they do that work for a very long time and has always nice to see Educators decided they want to take a leak and actually run the class so I appreciate you for being here anyone else who like to come on Mike and Cher I see Jason go ahead I have my name is Jason Bourne Stan I currently have a trainer in healthcare so I trained new hires an existing hires and with the pandemic X maybe re-evaluate what I really want and I really do want to educate children being in a classroom versus training adults so I'm looking I'm looking to see what the best program is cuz I born and raised in Sacramento but I I lived Texas for 18 years so I'm just I'm back to California for the last three years so just trying to find a good program take a message for certification okay since you're in the right place but you'll have to make that decision for yourself or anyone else like to share I just talked to how many New Bradford homes I graduate from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green Ohio and 2019 and with my Bachelors of Science in social work and the reason I want to get into teaching is cuz I've always liked kids kids like me as well and experience with kids in Iraq currently work as a one-on-one Aid with the fortune Middle School in Oak Grove so you know I really like it there and I've got a couple classes so like I think this is just something I've been I come with you so you know I'm going to get more information about it to see that you are already a part of the fortune fan and you're at the beautiful education complex so would love love love to see you on your credential anyone else like to share yes go ahead and please tell me your first and last name so I could check you in as well call mapa music for me please you're on mute Priyanka I have done my bachelor's degree from India so I've done my Master's and bachelor's for Mendes Old Masters in and there's like five years but it sounds more than that so I would consider as a bachelor's degree in biology by technology and I have been teaching in in 40 years almost 3 years of experience teaching the high school kids and the medical students but all it's almost five years when I came over here and now I want to go for the picture tradition program that because that's what I like to do I was being bring it earlier but I have some questions I'm not sure like I have to give CBEST and csec another thing is I am on edge for dependent Visa so I'm not sure can I go 40 seconds in Brooklyn right now or not because I have a flight for the book, but it would almost take 11 months to come so I have some questions regarding that but that's what I have been doing and I love to do that so I how to Glide in backseat we're good thank you so much and welcome I definitely think that I'm your able to proceed I do not know the exact specific answer but I think that that you could we can we can on dialogue about it and that way I can get the right answers for you so I'm not miss dying you but I will say that you're not the first person that I've met in a situation similar to yours and John able to go through the program there are some requirements in terms of backgrounds and things like that that you need but as long as you have a ability to work which it sounds like you're working toward then I see opportunity there for you this this cohort was the most covered that's coming up is on January 10th so there's time to go through that process and get things in line but like I said I want to make sure that I get the right answers for you so I won't say too much so that way I'm not saying the wrong thing anybody else like to share before we go on all right well hearing none we will just go ahead and jump right back into it so there are many reasons why. Emma wanted choose Fortune School of Education as their pathway turning a California teaching credential for us I said it before and you're going to hear me say it throughout this whole entire presentation we are a practical roadmap that basically means that you're earning while you're serving in the classroom and learning at the same time we have Partnerships with 55 school districts across Northern California are pernicious and solid we've already shared the meaning of you are coming to us because of those Partnerships and we do have a pay-as-you-go model and say you're going to graduate with your teacher credential debt free and I don't know about you but that free sounds so good to me so it stays you go and the cost is is manageable we have. visors and on-site mentors who are available to you which we call our triangle is support so you are supported by a supervisor who is going to come out and I'm checking with you to see how you're doing today to give you that feedback and one on one attention that you may need and someone you could always contact and rely on who's who has the teaching credential who taught for a long time who can give you their expertise in addition to that our partnership is a part of our memorandum of understanding with the school districts and charter schools that we have partnership with they give you or assign you to a excitement or and that is another teacher a lot of the times is somebody that's teaching in your same subject area or very close to it who has been teaching for a long time who is there that you can help you know refer to and I'm used as a mentor to help you through your path we utilize a system called populi if you visited our website you may have already encountered populi if not that's okay is our learning management system and is pretty user-friendly it'll be your first entry point or or relationship-building of populi would be 3 or online and probably does offer online support so if there's any issues are hiccups you'll have support there pre-service is a 170 our rigorous boot camp something that is designed to get you ready for teaching in the classroom so is kind of like your prerequisite to get into that classroom is all of the foundational elements that you may need in order to do your job as a teacher you don't go over lesson planning you'll go over classroom management and all kinds of chips and and I'll course where Dad is is nest sorry to get you started so that's what pre-service is our pre-service is launching this winter we offer it twice in a year starting January 10th 2022 when are the winter pre-service kickball we also have a spring and summer fall pre-service as well you're welcome to type in at any of those pre-service opportunity if you come in and January you'll be there 470 hours now the benefits of starting pre-service early is that you'll be going through pre-service right around time when school districts are actually looking to fill their early they can see so you're kind of already have like a ahead in our head up above other District interns who program may start later there is a little bit of a gap so when you start pre-service in January after you're done with your 170 hours there's a little bit of a break which is kind of nice because it affords you the time you get all your subject matter competency exams or you know ways in which you made meatballs requirements in order so they're not weigh when it's time for you to start teacher credential program you're able to just move in with that smoothly in October which is when the district intern program will begin offer two ways of earning your teaching credential at 4 to school so 1 is our to your path which is that pre-service pipeline that pre-service pathway we offer single subject multiple subject and education specialist for mild and moderate credentials only for single subject we offer everything except for art so we offer English now World languages social studies PE and that will allow you to teach 6 through 12 grade multiple subject you can teach transition kindergarten through eighth-grade with a multiple subject credential and then education specialist you're able to teach mild moderate disabilities or learning differences only specific la palabra one year pass that one is a little bit more rigorous and terms of the requirements to get there pre-service is not a part of that chocolate but there are exams and things like that that will talk about in a moment that you'll need to take in order to qualify or to become eligible to meet their criteria for early completion option early completion option model a standalone individualized packed so you're not coming into class even in October and I'm coming into class or doing any specific course work but you are welcome to attend seminars and prepped for some of the caltpa and Rica and other exams that are required we offer. Valley completion option for pretty much every every subject area with the exception of our and with the exception of so you can be you know English when was our mathematics science to earn your early completion option early completion the one-year program in addition to that we offer a school leadership program and this is a one-year intensive leadership program if you guys were here earlier you may have Eric Eric is interested in administrative Services Program this is for informational purposes there are you know you definitely need to have a clear credential in order to move into the school leadership program but this is just to let you know what our programs are so impatient we are receiving applications online and I'm really excited about that because you know we this is our first time doing online application so yay Fortune school but you definitely will submit your application online and I see your question in the chest Valley so give me a moment and I'll show you before I go to application running give allow you to give voice to early completion option would you like to go ahead and come on to question I'm sure I was just wondering a little bit more about early completion cuz you said you don't go into the classes and it's a little more individualized so does that mean you're kind of doing work on your own but not attending physical class so like things are assigned to you and you do them on your own time or how does that work yeah good question still early completion option is independent study basically and when I travel to the next ride you'll learn why so you are any person who desires to go through early completion option is already laminated themselves as somebody who is capable and who doesn't need to have a lot of you know on fighter in class coursework assistant and the way that that that that is determined is by meeting eligibility criteria like through the couch CPA exams and demonstrating your competency so you are always welcome to come in and even encouraged so let's say you desire to go through the early completion option but you also think that come in a pre-service and getting a foundational boot camp is Sunday that would be beneficial to you you're welcome to come to pre-service and do that so you don't even do the pre-service if you enter the early completion option that's correct yep is not is not required you heard me. I'm actually going to go into that I see a lot of things going on in a chat and I will I'll go to that and II know I have a question on the same question 3 service program and intern that's a different part on the credential for 2 years that's a different but that's what you're telling me essentially to Pathways to earning your credential and Donna is going to be determined on whether you meet the criteria for that pathway one which is pretty much an hour since of a word are traditional pathway that is a two-year program the pathway that is more rigorous and intense is the road completion option which is a one year program and let them step recipes for both the things we need to complete the pre-service thank you for clarifying so please do this is definitely required anyone who is going in the district intern pre-service pathway that's definitely required that's because he you may not meet the requirements for a completion option so you're going to go every service and also because you know yourself and you may be the type of person is like I need to you know kind of class I need to have this support that's a free service option for people who need all of them requirement that I I'm about to share they have the option to come to pre-service and also on their credential in one year give me one second before you ask another question and I'm going to share this and I might answer the question and I also see question hang tight so the application deadline is on November 19th the application fee is $100 in order to submit your app application in for to be considered complete you'll need to provide a copy of your resume updated one you don't have to have any education experience wanted as in terms of teaching but if you do that's fine 3 professional recommendation excuse me a personal statement official transcripts with your degree posted we are also for the purpose of uploading ever into the application you would post an unofficial transcript and then you'll provide your official so that way it's killed unless you have one of those State electronic transcripts you must need basic requirements through one of three options and I'm going to go there real quick so there's three options to me basic skills requirement I really option one this is our website Fortune School of ed.org and I'm under the apply segment so how can one is passing the CBEST exam having a score sheet that says that you passed that often too and I'm in a lot of everybody encourage you all to visit the website and to review this information on your home I'm giving you high-level touchpoint option two is to have qualifying course work with a grade B- or higher from an accredited institution of higher education and then there's some other on parameters around that an option three is to satisfy the requirement through the ace sat or act exam and then that information is available. on the website as well as follows you also need to meet your US Constitution combination or proof of passing a if you attended a California State University is CSU only not a you see but if you attended a CSU then you will not need to take are US Constitution exam if you attended a private school or you see or School anywhere Across the Nation are out of the country you will need to take the US Constitution exam and a link to that exam are actually on the website oops sorry getting crazy over here you also need to have a certificate of clearance Commission on teacher credentialing with no convictions no do you I know nothing like literally a clean bill no conviction any applicants who have convinced conviction you are definitely encouraged to apply and to write a statement about it and it would be reviewed for consideration all right so I see a couple of questions in the chat I think Jason has a question Doug has a question and Tasha has a question so I'm going to go ahead and give you all opportunity to give voice to your question and the order in which you posted it in the chat adding Jason I think you're up first with my question on the phone for the professional recommendations is there a template or we just have a letter written from from those professionals good question so when you submit your application online you'll type your recommenders email into the application form and it'll go to them they'll receive a form they're not ask to write a letter the receiver form graph to complete the form and send the form back and it's all electronic Ezekiel and the other thing that I was about to take out with so if I procured my degree from the University of Houston because it's not in the state of California I was so we'll need to get that take that exam for the US Constitution exam you will need to take anyone when unless you intended to see issue or you taking a course that made me the requirement if you visit the CCC website they will have additional information about courses that may meet the requirement if you feel like you have a cord that meets the requirement when you how much are unofficial transcript you want to go ahead and highlight that course information in your unofficial transcript and then you also want to contact the admissions department and let them know that they are high add a Discord and then that way they can have on the credential analyst determine if that course meets the requirement but do your own homework first by visiting the CCC website to see if you have something that means through because I think in Texas the US Constitution is a requirement that needs to be mad as well Thank you so much to you are actually in the information session for the teacher credential but that's okay cuz you were alone we had another person you're in administrative Services credential I will give you back your time you can come over here and then what what we'll do is we'll have someone reach out to you on schedule time for the administrative Services credential informational okay thank you so much sweetheart thank you so much have a wonderful evening all right I'm Tasha your next step is a question so we're currently on why we are all navigating this pandemic online whether or not we remain online needs to be determined or seen or whatever based on what's happening in the in the world I asked because it would be convenient if its online to my work schedule and I've already worked something out with my employer where I can get away from work a little bit early so that I can be available online for those hours that's why I asked that and I'm another question I had I see that you said that the application is online now when you have to upload things I've already received my two out of three of my professional recommendations and they handed them to me in a sealed envelope so would it be preferred that I submitted to you guys still arson option let me find out the answer to a question do you have yes let me get the answers to that and then I'll I'll let you know so I'll get answers questions that I need to get answers to and then I'll respond as soon as I get the dancer we just launched the online application and so I think will be a preference would be but however since you already have two I think that that that I'm going to stay softly that I think that that that will be okay and then maybe your third one you might be able to do online but yeah I'm going to say a soft yes but don't quote me and I will get the answer for you that you can quote me on okay. is November 19th what is the application deadline why is the application deadline for the January 10th 2022 winter pre-service or early complete option and I think that same time frame okay going on for the early inflation option I promise I will share information about it there are few people who seem to be curious about learning more about the early completion option so I'll go ahead and go over this in order to become a candidate to the early completion option pathway you must have the early completion option exam if your multiple subject you need to take the assessment of Professional Knowledge for elementary if you are single subject you will need to take that single-subject assessment of Professional Knowledge secondary exam so you only take one or the other depending on where you want to earn your Yorkie but you need to take that exam in pass it so that when you apply your submitting your score I see your Hammer he's let me go ahead to your question Bradford so this was a question for the last slide be a cont the Constitution test do we have to pass that before we apply or is it is Thursday like Ashley apply typically we want everything that is required for the application to be considered complete and review done I'm so it is but if you are able to take the exam and profit in order for the application to be complete incomplete applications are not going to be considered you can work on your application online get your profile started and all of that while you're getting things together but incomplete applications will not be considered so I would say the answer is yes that you'll need to have it done by November 19th but I'm going to just say that I hear I've never taken the exam I went to a c s u but I will say that the that I hear all the time that they them is pretty easy I don't know it depends on test taking skills okay thank you for that question all right if you also need to pass your cset exam obtain of subject matter of a letter of sending their competency and there's one more area so there's three options were becoming subject-matter competent one is like Sally teaches friends is Sally has a bachelor's degree in chemistry and she wants to teach chemistry then there are ways for her to meet the requirement that way as well when when she can get a subject matter of subject-matter Competency letter within also she can identify that she's subject matter competent through coursework if she's not able to get that letter from an institution so there's three options to becoming subject-matter competent was he said I see your hand wanna go ahead so who will provide the subject-matter competency letter that would be provided by the institution that you graduated from with your bachelor's degree typically you contact the registrar's office and let them know that you need a subject matter, since the letter and then they will provide the letter can also in order to be considered for the early completion option you must complete the couch CPA instructional cycle one you have to complete got a whole learning about students in planning instruction in order and it has to be done and submitted to caltpa by the time you submit your application then you would be interviewed and if you are accepted into the program you will need to fix your a full-time job one of our participating School District Partners we have 65 in Northern California seal need to be teaching with one of our partner school districts are charter school systems and you must be teaching at least percent of the time in the subject that you want to teach so for example if you want to teach chemistry but there is a job you know have Dave teaching chemistry have they doing art you need to at least have a minimum of 50% of your time dedicated to the subject that you intend to teach and become the teacher record up and down your credential and I mean I have a question go ahead yeah I have one more question regarding the same thing in my case I completed my degree in India so how do they know that how they'll provide the baguette. will you guys accept me if I get it from there a certificate what was specifically talking competency letter yes if they provide if that institution provide subject-matter competency letters then yes thank you and your welcome so that is early completion option actively serving I seen Tasha let me go ahead and get your get your car and talk before I go ahead into the eligibility for district and turn go ahead Tasha you just stated that the competency you know letter from the school is that the same thing I need to get so that I don't have to take the CBEST test if I took the courses already is that the same thing no it's actually different so that's a very good question so let me call go back to the website for seven more, Tennessee better is is a different type of letter that schools will provide that let institutions know that you meet the requirements to teach and that's a pretty standard in Normal you can just ask for it just was that California course weren't there is different you're not really getting a letter your identifying for the qualifying course work on that you believed me through fireman okay and that's for the two-year intern program right regardless of what program you need to take those 9 steps that I talked about on the bike ride a bike commuter and why your program okay.
